This class will be very beneficial for everyone who has stiffness in their back and for those with poor posture. We will also be using two blocks today instead of one. If you don’t have blocks, see if you can use telephone books or text books.
For the amount of time we spend standing, walking, jogging, or running, it’s not surprising that we have stiffness or tightness in the lower back. Couple that with poor posture and a tilted pelvis, it’s really no wonder why we feel sapped of energy and tight in our sacral area and Quadrates Lomborum. Our goal is to make space in this area using various movement patterns and focusing on loading joints, and opening up the lines of fascia in the back body. We also want to focus on breathing and moving so that we are lifting up and out of the pelvis. This is not only good for stretching, but you’re literally lifting all internal organs up and out of the pelvic bowl.
Bring space to the back brings incredible healing to the pelvis and lower extremities and up into the spine. When this area is clogged, stagnant or overly stressed we feel it all over, but when we focus and bring awareness to that area, we are filled with revitalized energy and a new sense of purpose!
