Generate heat from within! That is the name of the game when it comes to interval training. Everyone is so obsessed with this idea of stretching and of flexibility, but the body can only go so far when the muscle is not warmed up, and when thermoregulation has not been activated. This is the body's ability to build heat from within! A muscle can only be as flexible and as pliable as you allow it to be - meaning we have to introduce some heat to the area you want stretched. But more importantly, this heat has to be built from within and work its way out!
This is drastically different than, say, Hot Yoga - which introduces overwhelming heat from an external source. Though you might break out into a good sweat, the body might not be ready to naturally stretch the muscle. It is merely exposed to an external stimulus and that heat is only superficial.
That's why HIIT (high intensity interval training) is so revolutionary! You are using your body's own thermoregulatory system to build natural heat, build up a sweat, and generate energy in the core! You would think it would be energy exhausting, but most people often feel a surge of energy - a rush - after doing a HIIT session! This flow also incorporates some basic plyometrics to add some variety to the mix! Remember to keep the pelvis steady, the core integrated and you are well on your way to building a better you! Namaste!
