bring awareness to the hip and everything around it. The best way to help your hips, is to help your glutes! You want those glutes firing! Most people have low back and hip problems and they things they have arthritis, or some other ailment. When in reality, it’s just the simple fact that you are underutilizing your glutes! They tend to snooze on you when you’re not paying attention to them!
Triple flexion and triple extension is key here. Get a sense of what part of this chain may feel a little bit more challenging for you. Triple flexion is the ability to bend at the ankle, knee, and hip. Some people are more stiff and tight than others. Moving from flexion through to extension will help to relieve some of that ‘stickiness’, but it also really comes down to having and maintaining good posture through movement. A neutral spine serves an important role in the hip as you want to maintain that neutrality and length in the spine. Think of your head as well - the cervical spine is all a part of it so if you are jutting your head forward or tilting your chin too far up or down, that will have a negative effect on your neutral spine.
Let’s remap the way we move , having a fresher approach in our practice as we strive towards happiness! Register for a moment in the way you feel - not only in the area surrounding the hips, but the energy flow up to the head. Happy hips leads to a happy heart. So let’s be more loving, compassionate, with a greater sense of care for us and all those around us! Namaste!
